### Goals/Objectives:

### Procedures:
1. **Introduction (10 minutes)**
- Begin with a brief discussion on what government is and its importance.
- Ask students what they know about the structure of government and write their responses on the whiteboard.
- Introduce the topic: Organs of Government.
2. **Lecture/Presentation (15 minutes)**
- Utilize a PowerPoint presentation to discuss the three main organs of government:
- **Legislative:** Responsible for making laws. Examples include Congress (USA), Parliament (UK), and National Assembly (Nigeria).
- **Executive:** Responsible for implementing and enforcing laws. Examples include the President (USA, Nigeria) and the Prime Minister (UK).
- **Judiciary:** Responsible for interpreting laws. Examples include the Supreme Court (USA, Nigeria) and various lower courts.
- Explain the concept of the separation of powers and checks and balances.
3. **Class Discussion (10 minutes)**
- Facilitate a discussion on the importance of the separation of powers. Ask students:
- Why is it important to have different branches of government?
- How do these branches work together and keep each other in check?
- Can they think of any real-world examples where this system has been effective or not?
4. **Activity: Group Work (10 minutes)**
- Divide the class into three groups. Assign each group to one organ of government.
- Each group will discuss their assigned organ and prepare a brief presentation addressing its functions, significance, and examples from different countries.
- Have each group present their findings to the class.
5. **Conclusion and Homework (5 minutes)**
- Recap the key points of the lesson.
- Hand out worksheets with questions and activities relating to the organs of government to reinforce learning.
- Assign homework: Have students write a short essay (1-2 pages) on the importance of the separation of powers in their own country. Encourage them to give examples.
